Artist Statement :
"In my studio practice, I have been interested in the influence and role of mass media.
Whether it is in news, advertisements, magazines or movies, a stream of images constantly overwhelms the public and it seems that our society prefers to find truth in appearances and surfaces instead of trying to investigate past those images. A consequence is the aestheticization of everyday life, a process by which representation and judgment regarding beauty and desire become generalized in the course of habitual exchange. Through my work I question celebrity status and influence in our society.
Celebrity culture is one of the most important mechanisms for mobilizing abstract desire, it embodies desire in an animate object and hence creates a higher level of attachment than in inanimate commodities".

Steaven DAVID
